Why Peregrine Ridge?

A peregrine falcon, flying near a rocky cliff face.

At Peregrine Ridge Consulting, our name reflects how we work. The Peregrine Falcon symbolizes precision—the ability to identify the critical detail in a complex ecosystem.
The Ridge represents perspective—seeing the full landscape through data, mapping, and ecological strategy.

Just as the Peregrine Falcon connects habitats across the Americas, we connect complex scientific data with the communities that need it most. We offer the view from the ridge: a clear, unobstructed understanding of your environmental challenges, delivered with the precision of nature’s most capable navigator.

Our Mission:

Peregrine Ridge Consulting is dedicated to empowering organizations and helping people understand and make informed decisions about the natural landscapes they steward. Through data-driven ecological analysis, field expertise, and clear communication, we translate science into practical environmental solutions.

Who I am

My name is Dr. Fernando Mendonça (Men-don-sa). I am a biologist, educator, and data-driven problem-solver who has spent a career moving between field boots and datasets—and loving both equally.

With a Ph.D. in Ecology and extensive experience in spatial analysis and biodiversity assessment, I bridge the gap between academic theory and applied conservation. For 20 years, I lived and worked in the Amazon rainforest, researching how environmental factors and human activity influence ecosystem health, with a special attention to wetlands, streams, pools, lakes, and rivers.

Since moving to Massachusetts with my family five years ago, I have applied this global perspective to local conservation. As a Biodiversity Scientist and member of the Community Science Committee with the Dennis Conservation Land Trust, I have led statistical and geospatial analyses to advance open science principles and community engagement.

Two people, a young girl and a man, standing behind a green table at an environmental conservation event. The table displays brochures, flyers, a small photo, and rubber duck toys. The background features informational posters about land conservation, a monitor showing a nature scene, and a sign for the Dennis Conservation Land Trust.

I founded Peregrine Ridge Consulting to bring this same level of rigorous support to other institutions. My goal is to integrate high-level scientific perspective with detailed, field-based observations, ensuring your strategies are both scientifically robust and practically effective. I invite you to explore the specific technical and advisory solutions available to support your mission.
